haha rjco concert ytd was exciting! i think the juniors did so well, esp for phantom! going back makes you feel this nostalgia yknw, last yr after concert i tot i wld never touch a single instrument ever agn, nvr step into co room ever agn, i bet all the alumni tot so too, but HERE WE ARE! :DDD it felt really good to play together as an orchestra agn haha, and definitely great to get to knw all our snrs and jnrs as well! :D
anyway contrary to what mel said on facebook hahaha i think the pink top is quite nice lor! i think its nicer than the bright pink thing we wore last yr T.T haha it goes with the guys are wearing! (even tho they say it looks like the new SMRT uniform hahaha)
ohoho 3M had a super ultra mini class gathering too! haha caught up with everyone! wah i'm gna get plenty of discounts when i see a dentist/doctor, when i need a lawyer, when i need someone to do accounts for me, when i need someone to dispense medicine for me without having to go down to guardian!! :D life is good yo!

so which wld you choose, among the 3 above?
Money = NTU Scholarship which gives $500 as pocket money per month (YES THATS OBVIOUSLY MORE THAN THE POCKET MONEY WE RECEIVE FROM MUMMY!!) , computer allowance of $1500, book allowance of $500 per yr, settling-in allowance of $250!! so after some calculation, this scholarship is worth: $21 250?! and that's not even including tuition fees which shld be abt $20 000 too! tian ah, i cld buy a nice yellow car with tht amt of money T.T
Prestige = MOE Overseas Teaching Scholarship. The downside = its teaching, and teaching is not sth i'd spend the rest of my life doing. even tho MOE says i'd probably only teach for abt 3 yrs then go to the HQ to formulate education policies or become some director or sth like that, and i'd be given more chances to rise up the ranks than those with a local scholarship or award, blahblahblah tht my mum has been drilling into my head.. Ten yrs later if i do end up working in MOE, i just can't imagine myself waking up and thinking YAY I'M GNA WORK TODAY! WHT AN EXCITING DAY AHEAD! yknw? i'm gna have a depressing life!!
The upside (and there's plenty of advantages for this scholarship, because the government happens to be far richer than our universities and can thus afford to shower money on us) :
- Study at Imperial in UK for FREEEEE! omg i nvr tot i cld ever get to study at imperial. i mean like imperial? IMPERIAL?!!? HAHAHAH.
- its GBP 3000 of living allowance PER MONTH, i've no idea how much that is in sg dollars, but it seems like a lot because i don't think uk currencies are as small as rupiah riiggghht.
- IT SAVES ALOT OF MONEY OMG theres even warm clothing allowance aiyoh how come local scholarship don't have cool clothing allowance?? give us money to buy singlets and caps and shorts yo! :D btw the temperature today is SO HOT did anybody notice! haha ok kidding. but anw, its a hell lot of money so i won't bother calculating the total amt.
- You get honours in 3 yrs, and whn you come back to Singapore and whip out your nice Imperial cert, you're probably gna impress many bosses and at the same time, more money comes flying towards you like magnets! omg you're a money magnet!!
That's why they say money can't buy happiness! shower me with money, give me a huge cert from a top notch uni, so what. if i'm not happy with where i'm working, what i'm doing, there's really no pt. i'd rather be happy!
Which brings me to my last point! PASSION IS THE MOST IMPT EVERYBODY! and i'm glad that i managed to get a scholarhip to support my passion :D ohoho yes thats right, i've decided to study food science at NUS! The NUS Science Scholarship has less money la, no book or computer or clothing or living or dying or transport blahblah allowance, just tuition fees and a nice $3600 per year! íts the least money and the least prestige. In fact, I can imagine the HUHs i'll get whn my aunties and uncles ask me what i've decided to study. I mean food science isn't exactly like LAW or MEDICINE or ACCOUNTANCY which are supposed to pre-determine that you've a bright future ahead T_T
Which brings me to my nxt pt! my last pt i promise! hahaha yknw everyone's fighting to get into all these prestigous degrees, because they're professional degrees, and will guarantee you a job whn you graduate. but i think that if you're not certain that you like the subject, don't take it just because everyone thinks its so hard to get in, and YOU GOT IN!! so you must take it. there are so many lawyers and doctors out there who are earning less than a science graduate (or any other non-professional degree graduate for that matter), simply because whn you're among the best, its easier to drop to the bottom of hte pack. Esp whn you're not passionate abt it, where are you're gna find the motivation to work hard and study that subject? Rather than let yourself suffer for the sake of prestige and money, I'd rather do sth that I like, I'll work hard for and therefore, do well in!
Ultimately, passion will bring you the furthest, not the extra thousand dollars a scholarship gives you, which can actually be earned back easily if you're able to excel in the field of your interest. Andddd that's my ultimate goal! haha i'm gna be the person who created that yummy thing they're selling in kfc in 10 yrs time, i'm gna be the person who makes sure there's no melamine in the yong tau foo you eat everday, i'm gna be the person who makes sure we get yummy food in supermakets!! omg doesn't this sound exciting enough! everyone come take food science!

why life is lousy now:
1) I SOLD MY TICKETS WAYYYYYYYYYYY BELOW THE PRICE ALOT OF PPL ARE WILLING TO OFFER omg i cant believe it i cld have made at least 50 bucks more ar;kajd;f ajk oh well as jerome says, be glad we alr made such a substantial profit :D
2) I got the scholarship that i don't want ): i mean i wanted the scholarship to be local, NOT OVERSEAS! my parents are crazy abt me gng for it, they think its such a great deal, cos its a freaking lot of money sponsored esp since its overseas. but i DON'T want to go overseas, i stated that so freaking clearly during my interview, i dno why they're forcing me to go overseas. not that i don't want to, but it'll make my sheep so sad ): my parents think that whn i come back i'll rise up the ranks super fast, but UGH i don't want to disappear for 3 years from yr lives! i love hte people ard me too much hahah! >< i guess the interviewers didn't really believe me whn i proclaimed my love for NUS as the reason i wna stay in sg during the interview hahaha.
3) My job is a bore but ok look on the bright side, i'm earning good money yo! :D

these days, particularly this wk, has been very exciting for many ppl. law results are out, so are med, business, archi, aiyah actl everything la. for those who got wht they wanted, congrats congrats and many congrats! im sure you'll treasure this opportunity you've been so blessed to be granted and study hard for it yeah! :D and for those who didnt manage to get wht they want, don't be too discouraged, yknw life goes on, for all yknw, this may be a blessing in disguise! you may discover tht yr second choice is sth you really enjoy, or if you'd gotten yr first choice - it might not have turned out as ideal as you tot it would. please don't give up, whatever course you've been placed in, go enjoy it yeah! prestige isn't everything.
if only everyone can get what they want. but if it were like that, everybody probably won't want it anymore. its the exclusiveness that makes it so attractive. im tired boo happy vesak day!

anyway im on a money-saving spree lately, i aim to spend less than 20 bucks a week, excluding transport of course. transport is the most expensive thing on earth pls, shld just get the concession i think its more worth it cos im spending 50 bucks on transport per wk!!

EDB not easy! :D ohwells anw back to the scholarship interview, just a helpful note to all those who havent gone yet: GO READ BOOKS. i htink nus is obsessed with books, they think tht ppl who dont read books = stupid = should not be in N!U ! S. lucky i spotted the qn cos it came out for hte med essay too right, smthing to do with books or wht not haha. so yayyay i listed out this impressive list of cheem books (WHICH I REALLY READ OK) and they were like WOAH you read alot and i was thinking YAH actl i only read the first few pages nad last few pages and the book reviews hahahaha! no la i got the read the contents sometimes ok, really.

speaking of which work is terrible today. i was the only person at the counter because the whole world decided to take mc so i was doing 109283102 things at a time and i couldnt even go to the toilet for 6 whole hours and didnt have time for lunch either aiyoh this job is torturous! but wht to do! whre to find this kind of high paying job nowadays man.
anyway ive been keeping a book to record my expenditure everyday ok. everyone shld try this too! it greatly prevents excessive splurging because at the end of hte day whn you record everything in the book and sum it all up, you realise how much you spent in tht one single day and decide to cut down on spending for the nxt few days! :DD omg maybe i shld publish a book on saving money. anw i really think the next few months, or rather april and may, will really be life-determining months xD whether you get a scholarship or not, which uni you go to, staying local or heading to greener pastures overseas, which way yr career path is gng towards... haha isnt this excitting! ok im gna do a double deg! guess wht it is! haha getting into the uni is no problem, its the process i think will be highly challenging. but the more challenging it is, the harder it is to get the degree, the less people will have the degree, the more valuable you will be! omg i still rmbr my econs ok, lower supply, higher price! :D im imagining the dd and ss curve in my brain now hahahaha
